Lynn’s suggestions were spot-on. The only problem I had afterwords was that when I opened a new tab I got the error message that the new page could not be opened or was cancelled (or something similar to that). I solved this problem by installing IE9 (I had formerly had IE8). This fixed the problem absolutely perfectly. So between Lynn’s super list and this little addition I am a very happy camper.!!!!!!!!!
Thank God I have found this blog. I was blissfully happy using Firefox 3.5 until I popups interrupted when I was searching, despite a popup blocker, then when I cancelled them and selected an item in searching Firefox would send me to a completely unrelated, always commecial, site. I kept getting reminders to update to later versions of Firefox and did so hoping this would resolve it but the new one was chaos so I uninstalled it and installed Internet Explorer. While I did so the dreaded Babylon inserted itself into my life. Why isn’t this illegal?
Ok, for the pc, go to control panel like Lynn said, it works great. For me, I have Google Chrome, and I got rid of the toolbar crap simply by right-clicking on the little babylon symbol (next to the tools symbol on the top right hand corner) and disabling it. It appears to have gone for good.
I did more damage trying to remove Babylon. Now if I click to open a new tab in IE and then exit, I get a Visual C++ runtime error everytime (below). I guess I will have to re-install IE and see if that fixes things. This Babylon app is NASTY!
Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library
Runtime Error!
Program: C:\Program Files\Internet Explore\iexplore.exe
R6025
– pure virtual function call
I followed Lynn’s advice and got rid of Babylon — only now I have broken my ability to open a new tab in IE. This is where Babylon used to assert itself. Now I get the following from IE:
Navigation to the webpage was canceled
What you can try:
Retype the address.
Lynne’s method involves eliminating all references to Babylon from my registry. Is there a registry entry that I need to restore to get this working again? Please help!
Carl
i uninstalled this and it just keeps coming back! how do I get rid of it once and for all??? This isn’t needed, or wanted!!!!
I did not install Babylon. It jumped in at some time and I uninstalled it, but it creeps in to other programmes, especially Google Chrome. I have now deleted Google Chrome and will re-install it at some time.
Babylon is a demon from the pit of hell. If you read the Bible you will understand. It is a city which has taken on other names in areas like Iraq and is slated to be destroyed in time. The devil is persistent but if you persevere, he can be defeated.
Anna
Lynn -thanks for all your hard work on removing Babylon from operating systems. My wife used a cc cleaner and believes that somehow it installed babylon on her pc and screwed up all of her activex controls and who knows what else. She works from our home and has to continue working today . I will follow the steps that you outlined after she logs out of her workplace….Thanks again!
I accidentally downloaded Babylon I deleted to toolbar for good but i cant delete Babylon its self. I go to computer local disk drive then Program files i find it I then try to delete it by right clicking it and pressing delete but it says some programs will not work if i delete it I did not care so I tried to delete it but it didn’t work! Some one please help me
I have tryed many things and no matter who says its not harmfull – I don´t give a dam. The Babylon presents itself in the toolbar in stead of Firefox – and I and only I want to be able to decide how my toolbar statrs up. I look for the damn thing in my PC – and I can´t find the damn thing. Now also my IE has disappeared – I have tryed to download it 5 times and it does not present itself. I hope that an american can and will take this bloody irritating programe / Company to a court of law and charge a 10 million dollar for irritating people and tell the damn Company to install a proper REMOVE / DELETE button so that we who are NOT PC experts can remove the damn thing. Descent programes such as AVG / Photoshop etc. have a REMOVE button. Can a member of the US Congress not order this improvment to be installed in all US software to the general public? To the board of directors at Babylon: On behalf of thousands of people I quote Queen Victoria who said: WE ARE NOT AMOUSED. I ad: THERES ROOM FOR IMPROVEMENT!
This company excells in creating bad publicity for itself – I would advice the business education Institutions in the US and elsewhere to use this Company as a bad example of how to sell itself. Bad publicity is probably the only thing that might make this company to respect the customers they want to “serve”.
MY INFORMATION TO THE GENERAL PUBLIC: DO NOT DOWNLOAD THIS PROGRAME!
Thank you Lynn you’re the man!
I Hate Babylon webpage.. Pls remove it everybody.. Its my kind request..
SUCCESS AT LAST: (Windows Vista) Lynn’s suggestion almost worked (blowing out the registry and deleting all directories) BUT- and I’m not kidding, after burning all things Babylon, rebooting and ‘re’ searching the registry and finding NO babylon references at all- it still reverted to a babylon search every time i misspelled a URL or typed a search term into the URL field.
Extra solution for me: I had to not only complete all of Lynn’s steps AND uninstall Firefox, but choose the option to remove all personal data too. If you don’t choose that option, it just comes back again. After I exported my bookmarks, I did this. I then reinstalled FF and finally, voila! NO MORE BABYLON HIJACKING.
Thanks for everybody’s help on this list!
ps: The ‘party line’ three steps to uninstall babylon is crap. It just doesn’t work and I believe it wasn’t designed to work.
Anybody thought of litigating with bablyon?
Thank you Very Much Lynn.. I tried the above steps mentioned by you and it worked!!!!!!!!…
Regards
Andy
Just spent 5 hours waging war against Babylon and I think I am finally rid of it. To save others the time, here is what I did:
1. Go to Control Panel/Add Remove Programs or Programs and Features depening on your OS version. Remove all
instances of Babylon.
2. Go to Internet Explorer. From the menu bar, select Tools/Internet Options/General tab:
a. Change Home Page to something other than Babylon
b. Under Search, click Settings button, then select Search Providers. If Babylon is on the list, right-click
and select Disable Suggestions
c. Select another search engine on the list, right-click and select Set as Default
d. Click Close, Click OK to exit Internet Options
3. Click Start button; enter MSCONFIG in Search text box
a. Go to Startup tab; if Bablyon is on the list, deselect the check box; click OK
4. Boot computer in Safe Mode
5. Go to Windows Explorer or My Computer
a. Search for Bablyon and delete all folders and files with that name–I had several folders and files.
6. Boot computer in regular mode
7. Click Start button; enter REGEDIT in Search text box
8. Select File/Export and backup your registry!!!!!!!!
9. Select Computer to start the search at the topmost level
10. Select Edit/Find and search for Babylon; delete first occurance
11. Repeat step 10 until there are no more entriest in the registry–I found several.
12. Exit from the registry
13. Reboot computer and make sure it is working correctly since you just edited the registry.
14. Go to Internet Explorer and hopefully Babylon is toast
Since this has wasted over half my day already, I’m going to the Babylon website and give them a piece of my mind. Hijacking a computer like they did should be punishable on some level.
babilon is a virus type. Harm it.It can be uninstalled, but I could not remove it form toolbar. Babilon.. go to hell
I managed to get rid of it using system restore.
Thanks for your help! I had downloaded this and thought it would be an easy uninstall – wrong!
I had thought I got rid of it for good, but then I mistypes a web address and to find it opened Babylon!
Now it doesn’t appear thanks to everyone’s help!
i dont want babaylon web page
The only way I got rid of it (I tried all the above suggestions to no avail) was to go into safe mode and do a search for Babylon and then I deleted everything that came up and rebooted my computer. This finally got rid of it!!!
I got this from Babylon:

Thanks for now from everybody on the net who devised about 20 million ways to get rid of this trouble maker.
The irony is I got this pest EVEN though I UNCHECKED (!) babylon toolbar (hate them by default) when I wanted to get a uninstallp rogramme to get rid of something annoying but hard to uninstall thingy. So it got from Bad to WORSE.
The thing is: I used all but still get EVERY ten minutes a 0bit Temp in my Temp folder… Obviously something is still doing its grievous thing in the background but not so silent that it does not stop programmes in their track! Grrr
More than one (..) uninstall progs/ reg. removers has found anything anymore but since it started with the Babylon-misery I am pretty sure that is the cause. (oh: and in case you wondered: yes, the temp###. obit were coming before I started many programmes to get rid of the “sickness”)
Is there any way possible to manually (..) find out which Programme is bugging me still…???
look at the man hours wasted! surely this is a crime and if not, there is something broken in our system
Thank You! Finally got rid of this blasted babylon. TERRIBLE SOFTWARE!
I GOT IT OUT
I have it on google chrome
go to the wrench thing on the right corner
click on it
clik options
clik the homepage thing
type in your desired search engine (MINE GOOGLE OBVIOUSULY)
clik the blue bubble on it
CLICK MANAGE SEARCH ENGINESS!
few will pop up (bing google yahoo 7:EVIL BABYLON:
simply delete all the ones you dont want OR pink one to be your default 1]
if ya dont have google on it just type in the search engine name which is well google, bing, yahoo or wateva ya want
i want to remove babylon or delete on my couputer.
I totally agree with Gary. I have uninstalled 3 times now using different tools, yet it keeps invading my browser and re-directing. I am sick of Babylon. Hoping regedit will get it done this time.
this about: config did nothing but give me a blank page. And that is where it stayed. I have removed Babylon three separate times and it’s back. Any suggestions?
I’m using Google Chrome. Does that make a difference. It has done it on IE9 as well. I don’t have Firefox.
Here’s my problem. I’ve done the Regedit thing and deleted everything it’s come up with. However, whenever I try to do most things on my computer, a box pops up that says “Babylon trial version has expired. Buy now.” So apparently I have not gotten rid of it. I’ve tried everything that’s listen on here. I can no longer find any trace of it on my computer except for when this happens.
had to go through regedit to get rid of babylon, it had found its way into 12 parts of the registry
Annoying, but easy to uninstall (have just removed it from my mum’s computer).
1. Stop babylon.exe from starting when Windows starts. (I use Advanced System Care to manage my start-up programs)
2. Restart your computer
3. Uninstall both Babylon and the Babylon toolbar as you would normally.
Everything will be removed.
It is very easy to uninstall Babylon:
1. get the FREE software: Absolute uninstall.
2. install it, find Babylon exe and Babylon toolbar and remove them.
3. Go to Start > Run > Regedit
4. On the left panel go to the top of the list
5. Press F3 and search for the word Babylon.
6. Regedit will find the first one – press delete
7. Repeat steps 5 and 6 until you’ll get something like: “Regedit did not find….”
Et Voilà!! You are clean!
when you do things underhandedly like the way they snuck onto my system I have no interest in having them on my computer
Screw you babylon, 9 million people may be satisfied on your website but NOT ME
Thanks to ardent!
I have this to add: first follow ardent’s and the other uninstall procedures offered by the others.
Secondly, if you STILL are being haunted by this little bastage in the address bar’s search feature, simply type:
1. about:config in the address bar and hit “Enter”
2. In the “Filter bar” type babylon
3. Reset every last one of these little bastages and say goodbye for good to this stinkin’ piece of malware!
BTW: I’m using Win 7 64 (32 it’s all the same as it’s a 32 bit prog anyways) and firefox 3
Hope this helps!
ARDENT! Thank you soooooooo much. Finally got this off the URL search.
Thanks a million Ardent :)
Thank you ardent ! works!!!
please help!!
I want to remove or cancel babylon search,

Oh my gosh!
If your URL/location bar search is being directed to Babylon search:
1. Enter about:config in the address/URL bar and press the Enter key
2. If you see a warning, accept it (Promise that you will be careful)
3. Filter = keyword.url
4. Below the Filter, if keyword.url is bold and indicates user set right-click on keyword.URL and choose “Reset”
5. Restart Firefox (File > Restart Firefox)
Oh my Lord, I hate Babylon. Thank you so much Marybeth and Silverhorn. I have deleted file after file after file and could not get it off. I did not, however, check all the places I should have until I read these posts. That is one persistent piece of *#@#. Thanks again, everybody.
It is a nasty thing to get rid of you need to go to add or delete, delete it there, go to ( C:\ Doucoments and Settings\ All Users\Desktop\Babylon. lnk ) there will be four file’s you need to delete, after you do that go to your home the house at the top and click on it Babylon will show up delete it there also and it should be gone I don’t know how I got it but when I opened my homepage there it was I hated it, after that go to make my homepage whatever it was before such as att.net and so on.Hope this help’s that is how I got rid if it Thank God hope to never see it again.
Please can you help me get rid of this program, it come up when I don’t want it
Silverhorn… You ROCK!!
I want to get rid of this program. What is the magic?
please remove Babylon from my computer because its taking over everything on my computer is this site free
Try as I may I am unable to get rid of Babaylon. I have Windows XP and tried the methods listed in this forum without success. Please can someone help me get rid of this worthless program which is like a virus.
I was installing a different program when this bullcrap babylon popped up now I can’t get rid of it. I’ll try these suggestions listed in this forum. I certainly appreciate the feed-back. Thank you Bob K.
I am very upset – I uninstalled Babylon but now it is changing my home page in Firefox. I keep pretty good track of things and I’ll get rid of it, but it sure seems to me that it is malware!
Thanks for allowing me to comment.
babylon.exe is in FOUR PLACES.
1. Tools, Add Ons, there’s a file there.
2. Control Panel, Add/Remove there’s a file there
3. Control Panel, Internet Options, there’s a file there
4. Get rid of your browser… it’s embedded there… CAREFUL to first download another browser B4 you dump the one you have, otherwise how do you get a new one.
Marybeth
Thank you for the info but you still haven’t told me ho to get rid of Babylon
Here is how I got rid of it being on my Firefox as home page when I open Firefox.
1. Open Firefox browser (You’ll see Babylon which is one piece of crap)
2. Start > Settings > Control Panel > add and remove programs (remove it)
3. Click tools on Firefox > Options > Manage add-ons > find Babylon and remove
4. Click tools on Firefox > Options > (You’ll be on General options)
“When Firefox Starts” window select “show my homepage” from drop down menu
5. On home page window (in same general options) choose “Use Bookmark” – or you can try “Restore Defaults”
This all worked for me and I was really disgusted for a while. The people who installed this on our computers should be put in the electric chair with hackers and other a-holes. It’s obviously malware. My updated Spybot S&D and Avast did not catch it.. Ditto Firefox.
I tried to download a video site, and this damn Babylon thing came up, I have nearly finished deleating it, after trying for 4 weeks solid.
Thankyou Marybeth
i want remove the home page, and i dont want to need
i do not like babylon and would appreciate the remove from my computer. thank you.
I deleted the babylon.exe file in uninstall programs from the control panel menu – and it seems to have worked nothing else did
I finally removed it.
It in FOUR (4)places… that’s why you can’t get rid of it.
They have Babylon files in at least 4 places…
1. Click on Tools in the address bar and then Add-ons… there’s a file there
2. Go to Program Files and find Add/ Remove Programs… There’s a file there
3. Under Program Files there is a File ‘Internet Options’, there is a file there
Babylon is embedded in your browser, so you must uninstall your browser… but be careful because, you need to go back on the internet and download a new browser… in my case they had saturated Firefox Babylon files, but I still had Internet Explorer. So I just uninstalled Firefox and EUREKA, Babylon was gone. Then I downloaded a new Firefox and Babylon was completely gone
Good Luck
Marybeth Hart
Santa’s little helper, you’re a life saver i can’t ever thank you enough!
what is the link they send you in email , to supposely remove software, babylon.exe then at end it asked tto purchase some other software for 39.00 dollars , ive reoved all files i can find , i even uninstalled firefox browser and reinstaled it again , but it is still set as my homepage , on firefox browser, but in internet explorer it is still msn . why is it still in my firefox and not explorer ? how do you get it off computer ,
Removing Babylon just required me to change my home page back to the msn.com page I usually use as my home page. There were no programs installed. Go to tool in explorer, internet options and type in your home page address, and tell it to apply. This solved the problem.
I thought I had deleted Babylon…but it just keeps hanging in there, like a thief in the night. I do not want it. It was downloaded when I downloaded quick time and now I can not get rid of it. PLEASE, isn’t there something you can do about it
I hate this program, maybe its OK for people who don’t speak English but I want it GONE. I’ve tried to uninstall it but the infernal toolbar remains. OS is Windows XP Pro. Its no longer there in Internet Explorer but it IS there in Googlechrome. I’ve gone to the icon of the wrench and clicked on Extensions and deleted Babylon but the damn toolbar is still there. Can it be got rid of without spending hours looking in regedit? Suppose I could always delete Googlechrome and use Firefox instead.
go to start at the right bottom of your screen and click, you should see control panel click on it, then you will see uninstall program click on it, it should open all the programs that has been installed on your hard drive, in the long list you should be able to see babylon.exe, theres a box to the left of the word babylon and you need to click it, at the very top of the page there will be uninstall it, click it and that should uninstall it
i do not like babylon and would appreciate the remover from my computer. thank you.
I was battling a bit with joomfish for my website, so thought about downloading Babylon.
Thank you guys for the warning, I’ll stick to joomfish then!
After all… it was Babylon where the language problems !started! anyway!;)
i want babylon.exe removed from my pc
I followed santas little helper & hope this helps instructions but it did not work for me. I do not have a ‘local’ file in programs and removing the little house where home pages are did nothing but I did lose my navigation bar…
A bunch of sneaky underhanded control freak, bean counting, nosy geeks, who can’t get a life of their own, will not return my emails or calls. Babylon was hidden in a video player download and I have tried every device I know but it keeps hanging on like a hair in a biscuit.
for windows user go the home icon it looks like a house and remove it from your home page then type msn and click the house icon and click add it. then no more babylon
The way i removed Babylon (vista)
step 1. R click the start button
step 2. click explore
on the new screen scroll up the tree to the folder named ‘Local’ and open it. inside the ‘local’ folder you should see Babylon.
step 3. expand ‘Babylon’
step 4. delete the setup folder
step 5. delete the ‘Babylon’ folder
step 6. empty the recycle bin
worked for me, windows defender no longer detects this little piece of love.
hope this helps
:)

How do I remove Babylon program from PC
How do I remove Babylon program from my Internet Explorer.
I am unable to do anything else when I tap the IE link.
How do I remove Babylon program?
I don’t think it’s spyware, had 3 av programs (malwarebytes, hitman, and microsoft security essentials scan it– but it sure is nuisanceware! First it changes your home page to its homepage, then it installs yet another internet explorer add on, which you can uninstall my babylon toolbar thru add/remove programs, then it runs all over the computer on startup, which I used msconfig (start, run, msconfig) to get rid of that!!!
I deleted babylon!
I had this and deleted it.
