Hello,
I have a question about using Blat and any security risks it may pose. I found this message on my user group for the development tool I use. I would appreciate your thoughts on this solution for using blat to send emails.
Thank you,
Roger Ross
This was the solution an IT person gave to some in the group asking about Blat.
“1) Go into exchange 2000 or better and setup a new SMTP server using
port 8025
2) Turn off all serurity for sending out mail through port 8025
3) Install Blat using port 8025
Since your firewall does not allow communication through 8025 from
the outside spam can’t be sent from outsiders and since all users can
send using port 8025 they don’t have problems sending e-mail.
It seems pretty simple but I still have not found very much objection
from users. AND IT WORKS….”
