exec.exe – Here is the scoop on Exec as it pertains to computer network security. The big question: what is exec.exe and is it spyware, a trojan and if so, how do I get rid of Exec?
exec.exe (Exec) – Details
The exec.exe process is installed if you use NetZero for your Internet Service Provider (ISP). NetZero will allow you free internet access, however in exchange for this service you have to agree to view advertising banners from them whilst surfing the web. This process must be running if you use NetZero for your ISP, otherwise it should be terminated and removed from your system.
exec.exe is an application that does NOT appear to be a security risk
Our process monitor database currently registers exec.exe to NetZero.
This is part of NetZero installation package.

I use JUNO as my ISP. As Netzero, it fires up exec.exe. When I exit from Juno, exec.exe frequently remains active, resulting in the JUNO icon remaining on the taskbar. The only way to bring up JUNO again is to either reboot or go to TaskManager and kill exec.exe. My wife also has the same problem running in XP and I run with XP MCE. Both OSs are up to date with MSUpdates. Any help would be appreciated.
