I know a way to remove that performance killer!
Start Windows in Safe-Mode.
Click WinButton->Run->regedit
Click on the top level of the tree (Computer) and choose “Find” from the menu…Search the whole registry for “svhost”…
Erase every found entry which includes the svhost file.
(In other words, delete every search result).
Click WinButton->Run->msconfig
My Windows is german so i dont know the exact translation for the tab called “Systemstart”. It shows a table including all files started when windows boots. I had 2 entries with an owner called “Provide”. i deactivated them.
Depending on your OS or file manager, use your “search for a file”-option and check your drive c: if a file “svhost.exe” exists. I found some AppCrash-Logs and a few files in the SysWOW64 folder but I guess that depends on your OS and if you use 32 or 64 bits. So, delete everything that has been found.
After that, check in your task manager that the process “svhost.exe” is not running. if so, close the process.
Then restart your PC normally. Check regedit again if you find something including “svhost”. if so, delete it.
and check your task manager again, that there is no process running called “svhost.exe”. if not, then the virus is sent home.
I cannot guarentee that it works for everyone, but it worked for me. hope it helped.
ps: maybe i didnt hit the appropirate words and translations. that’s because my windows is in german :)
