Poor response to this vserve problem from BD support – sound like engineers goofed on this – I have repaired and rebooted my BD many many times to see if I can stop it gurgling in the background! after 3 years I am getting ready to dump it!
and BD seems to sit idlly by…… shame. It was the best up until then.
I’m totally frustrated with Bitdefender, after two years my computers are running slower and slower, vsserve.exe is consuming incredible amounts of CPU resource. I’m going back to Norton – for under $30.00 for 3 PC’s – Bit defender hassells are just not worth the product. I’m EXTREMELY disappointed in Bitdefender…..!
Bit Defender entered my computer right after I installed PC tools free antivirus. I have had problems in the past trying to remove Bit Defender. The last time I got rid of it by restoring my computer. This time restoring didn’t work;l it”s as though B Defender controlls everything. Uninstalling is held up by BDefender. If I had their emaill address, I would send them my tears, and maybe they would be sympathetic, andf give me back my computer–but I doubt it.
I’ve had the same vsserve problems off and on for over a year now consuming 100% of CPU for an extended period of time. It sometimes continues throughout the day. I’ve had enough. My subscription expires at the end of this month so one way or the other I’m getting rid of bitdefender. I downloaded a free virus app a couple of weeks ago and have been pleased so far. I still have bitdefender on my computer for the meantime but I’ve turned off all the protections. The only one I had not turned off was the automatic updates to various programs, but after reading one of the comments I just turned it off. The new virust software I’m tried is used by well over a million people per their site and it is free (Avast).
I’ve used BitDefender Security Products since 2004, they used to be the best I’d ever used. But about 2 years ago I and many others started having problems with “vsserve.exe”, it has never pulled my RAM memory down, but I 4 GB installed but it does use all available CPU resources, many times up to 99%, stalls out computer until it is done. I’ve found out this happens right after downloading and installing updates. It usually last about 5 minutes after each update is installed. And it affects everyone, a lot of people do not realize it, I think because they do not pay attention to the speed of their computer system, as long as it works even though it slows down everything they just take it as normal. I’ve been on the BitDefender Users Forums and their tech support, has yet to come up with a fix, neither have they fixed it through each new years upgrade, since 2008 it still exist in BidDefender 2011 products. You would think that after 4 years they would have fixed it or come out with a patch to take care of it.
The only fix I have is to reduce your updates to every 6 or 12 hours then you are not disrupted with this resource hog. And I’m like Eric, “I can’t figure out why a company who is supposed to be computer-wise can’t get a fix and let all paid customers get an update fixing the problem.” I can not understand why their Tech support wants you to run all these system scans and then when they don’t come up with a problem, they’ll tell you to install the latest version and the problem with “vsserve.exe” still persist. Hopefully someday they’ll get it fixed.
Sick to death of vsserve.exe at the point of dumping pcshield so as to release my computer to do what I want.
I’ve been loyal to BitDefender for quite some time, vsserv.exe is just frustrating me to no end. I’m just about to dump the program completely even though I’m paid up for a few more months. I can’t figure out why a company who is supposed to be computer-wise can’t get a fix and let all paid customers get an update fixing the problem. Eric
I agree Graham, I’ve e-mailed BD about this issue more than once, and still have received no resolution. I’m sick of every-time I need to complete a job, I’m having to wait for vsserv.exe to release 99-100% of my processor. BD even sent me a survey, to find out just how likely I was to continue my subscription, and if I’d recommend their product to others. Uh? That would be NO! on both accounts. Can not get my issues resolved with your software….Hmmmm someone else will be glad to have my business.
Vsserve brings my computer to a standstill often consuming 99 or 100% of the CPU. Why can we not limit its’ consumption of the computer resources? It makes working impossible. I would like to get rid of it even if it means buying a different virus solution.
It makes Bitdefender more trouble than it is worth. Does anyone know of alternatives to Bitdefender Software?
